But after more than a decade at MindWorks, I\u2019ve come to believe that the real secret to sustainable success isn\u2019t just what we deliver \u2013 it\u2019s <em>how<\/em> we work together as a team.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>A strong team dynamic isn\u2019t just a feel-good extra \u2013 it\u2019s central to delivering <a href=\"https:\/\/mindworks.co.uk\/blog\/case-studies\/?utm_source=mwm-blog&amp;utm_medium=mwm-website&amp;utm_campaign=mwm-blog-cherylblog\">brilliant work<\/a>, consistently. And at the heart of that is strategy, quality of thought, and an environment that brings out the best in people.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h5><strong>From Day One: Learning the Ropes and Feeling the Buzz<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I started at MindWorks as a Marketing Assistant back in 2013, getting stuck into everything from social media and PR to photo shoots and fashion features. It was a hands-on crash course in agency life, and what struck me most was the energy of the place \u2013 fast-paced, full of creative spark, and powered by people who genuinely wanted to do a great job together.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>That people-first energy never left me. As I progressed through my career and into leadership, it became something I\u2019ve tried to nurture and protect at every stage. Because when your team is thriving, your clients feel the benefit.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h5><strong>Creating the Right Environment<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>At MindWorks, we\u2019ve always cared about creating a working atmosphere that enables people to do their best. Not in a gimmicky way \u2013 but through trust, structure and genuine support.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>When I stepped into a leadership role, I knew I wanted to manage people in a way that felt authentic, constructive and empowering. I\u2019ve completed leadership training and am currently working through a Mental Health First Aid qualification to strengthen the support I can offer across the team.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>For me, people-first leadership means:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><p><\/p>\n<li><strong>Being visible and approachable<\/strong> \u2013 staying connected with the whole team, regardless of role or department.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>Creating rhythm and structure<\/strong> \u2013 sharing our weekly schedules in a dynamic and visual way to help us stay aligned, especially in a hybrid working environment.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>Fostering a safe space for ideas<\/strong> \u2013 encouraging everyone to feel confident contributing \u2013 no egos, no fear of getting it wrong, just open, honest thinking.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>Developing consistent support mechanisms<\/strong> \u2013 I\u2019m passionate about mentoring and helping people settle into client delivery with clarity and confidence.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>A big part is hyping the team up \u2013 giving people confidence in their ideas, helping them build resilience, and making sure they know they\u2019re trusted. Because when people feel secure and supported, the quality of thought improves \u2013 and that\u2019s what drives standout strategy.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h5><strong>Collaboration Unlocks Creativity<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>One of the things I\u2019ve aimed to encourage at MindWorks is a collaborative approach to large-scale work. For new business pitches or major campaigns, I\u2019ve championed involving the wider team early on before selecting a hand-picked account team based on strengths and availability.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>That kind of shared thinking not only fuels creativity but creates a sense of ownership and momentum across the agency. It\u2019s also why I\u2019m working with our creative team to rework our physical space to ensure the way we work is reflected in the space around us \u2013 open, flexible and made for ideas.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>This people-first approach is shaping my time as the agency\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/employeeownership.co.uk\/Default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Employee Ownership<\/a>&nbsp;(EO) Board Rep \u2013 a role I was proud to be elected into by my colleagues. It gave me a broader view of how the business operates and a deeper understanding of how to represent the team\u2019s voice at Board level. It\u2019s reinforced my belief that when you give people a genuine platform to contribute, they bring their best to the table.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h5><strong>What Clients See (and Feel)<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>When the team environment is strong, clients feel it.
